Before picking out your puppy...

  1. Puppies need a lot of time and attention.  They have a lot of energy so they need to run around outside.  If you don't let them out to release their energy they will do so in the house.  Puppies thrive on having a routine, discipline, training, and getting to play, run, discover new things.  They will also need frequent vet visits for the first 4 months after you get them.
  2. Talk with everyone in your household before getting a puppy about the time, energy and financial responsibilities in having a puppy.
  3. If you are a first-time dog owner, talk with family and friends about their experience in getting a puppy.  Do research on the breed to make sure it fits your families needs.
